Cuyahoga County Councilwoman Yvonne M. Conwell Will Host a Four-Part Stop The Violence Series During the Month of October

County Councilwoman Yvonne M. Conwell will host a four-part Stop the Violence Series that will address the issue of violence against women and provide valuable resources to support victims and their families. The four-part series will be offered every Thursday during the month of October from 5:30pm-7:30 pm at the Domestic Violence & Child Advocacy Center located at 2806 Payne Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44114. The forum will feature information on civil protection orders, human trafficking, Marcy’s Law and self-defense techniques. “Violence against women and young girls has become more prevalent today than ever before. Therefore, it’s imperative that we do more to raise awareness and provide those impacted by violence with the support and resources they need to empower through,” states Councilwoman Conwell.

Guest speakers include Alexandria Ruden, ESQ and Carrie Joseph from the Domestic Violence & Child Advocacy Center; Renee Jones, founder of the Renee Jones Empowerment Center; Johnathan Petrea representing Marcy’s Law; Dr. Elaine Richardson, Author of PHD to Ph.D; Cuyahoga County Assistant Prosecutor Ashley Kilbane; Jill Smialek from the Witness Victim & Family Justice Center; the Honorable Francine Goldberg of Domestic Relations Court; and Sergeant Taharka Ankhenaton of Cuyahoga County’s Sherriff Department.

Councilwoman Conwell encourages all residents and community leaders to come out and learn more about how we can build a safer community together. Refreshments will be served.
