'Elves for Elders' Spreads Holiday Cheer to Seniors in Cuyahoga County
CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH – The holidays are a time for giving, and that includes gifts for our senior friends and neighbors who may be alone and in need. The Cuyahoga County Division of Senior and Adult Services (DSAS) is collecting donations to make sure older adults aren’t left out this season.
The DSAS Elves for Elders program distributes gifts, including essential items, for vulnerable seniors living on fixed incomes. We need donations from local businesses and community members to make it happen. Some of the most popular items are blankets, pajamas, and slippers. All donated items will be gift-wrapped and delivered to hundreds of older adults throughout Cuyahoga County.
“Elves for Elders is one of the most enjoyable and rewarding projects. It is heartwarming to see the reactions of our clients when they receive their gifts. They appreciate receiving even basic items that they need,” said DSAS Administrator Natasha Pietrocola. “Many of our clients do not have others in their lives to celebrate the holidays with. Hopefully, Elves for Elders reminds them they are valued and not forgotten.”
To contribute, individuals can purchase gifts from the Target Registry, have them shipped directly to the agency, or personally deliver them to 13815 Kinsman Road in Cleveland from Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
