CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH - District 9 County Councilwoman Meredith Turner and County Executive Chris Ronayne issued the following statements:
“When celebrating Women’s History Month this March, I couldn’t help but think about with admiration the role women have played in making our great local government what it is today. When Cuyahoga County Council was first created more than a decade ago, it was led by three women who stood on the forefront of change and developed a strong legislative branch of government. C. Ellen Connally, President and whose name adorns our Council Chambers, Sunny Simon, Vice President, and Councilwoman Yvonne M. Conwell were the first women to sit on County Council and use their time in public service to better the lives of all residents. Since then, we have had six women serve on Council representing five districts.
“I am inspired every day by the amazing women who have come before me and serve with me today. Their passion, life experiences and expertise are nothing but of benefit to our residents. Even though we are soon closing out Women’s History Month, I will continue to be motivated by their leadership and celebrate their accomplishments now and well into the future.”
-District 9 County Councilwoman Meredith Turner
"As we celebrate Women's History Month, I am proud to recognize the dedicated women who serve our residents and drive our County forward. From our frontline workers to administrative staff, these women demonstrate a commitment to excellence seen throughout our neighborhoods and office buildings. As we honor the trailblazing women of the past, let us celebrate the extraordinary women who continue to shape the future of Cuyahoga County."
-County Executive Chris Ronayne
