The County and partner agencies provide services to help families experience a healthy, safe summer

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH - Cuyahoga County recognizes that summer can be challenging for families with children and teens. We understand that without the structure and resources often provided by schools, families may struggle with childcare, food, and constructive and safe activities for kids. Today, Cuyahoga County leadership, representatives from our municipalities, and community organizations outlined summer programs and resources designed to support families and children. This collaborative effort aims to ensure a safe and enjoyable summer for all.

Some of the programs highlighted during the event included:

"The well-being of our families is a top priority,” said County Executive Chris Ronayne. “A holistic approach involving municipalities and social service organizations is necessary to provide wrap-around support for families. We hope our Cuyahoga families will take advantage of the programs and services offered and have a fun and safe summer."

In addition to providing activities for children and families, the effort will also focus on safety. The Cuyahoga County Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS) has contracted agreements with nine organizations operating 13 county-wide collaboratives. These organizations provide resources and support for families, reassuring them and helping to prevent involvement from DCFS.

"This collaboration is vital to ensure families are getting the help they need," said Jacqueline Fletcher, Director of the Cuyahoga County Division of Children and Family Services. "Our goal is to prevent abuse, neglect, and other unsafe conditions for children. These programs and resources are critical in providing the support families need to keep their children safe and healthy."

For families facing mental and behavioral health crises, Cuyahoga County has developed a Family Crisis Resource Card, a crucial tool that includes a list of partner agencies and resources families can contact for help. This information is vital for families to feel informed and prepared. For a list of helpful resources and information, visit cuyahogacounty.gov/familiesfirst.
