CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH—Newly-elected Council President Dale Miller today named the following chairs of the standing committees of County Council for the 2025-2026 term:

Community Development & Housing: District 10 Councilman Michael J. Houser, Sr.

Council Operations, Information Technology & Public Transportation: District 6 Councilman Robert Schleper, Jr.

Economic Development & Planning: District 1 Councilman Patrick Kelly

Education, Environment & Sustainability: District 11 Councilwoman Sunny M. Simon

Finance & Budgeting: District 9 Councilwoman Meredith M. Turner

Health, Human Services & Aging: District 7 Vice President Yvonne M. Conwell

Human Resources, Appointments & Equity: District 3 Councilman Martin J. Sweeney

Public Safety & Justice Affairs: District 5 Councilman Michael J. Gallagher

Public Works, Procurement & Contracting: District 8 Councilman Pernel Jones, Jr.

“Committee assignments are designed to take full advantage of the strength of our veteran members, as well as put our new members into immediate leadership positions based on their interests and skill sets,” said District 2 Council President Dale Miller. “I look forward to building on the work our committees have done since inception to strengthen our County and region.”

Council committees provide oversight of county operations, conduct legislative review and investigation, and make recommendations on items presented to Council. Council rules mandate that the president appoint the chair, vice-chair, and members of all standing committees no later than the second regular meeting of the legislative term following the organizational meeting.
