Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne and Council President Dale Miller Release Joint Statement Regarding Pause in Federal Funding
CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH – The memorandum issued from the federal Office of Management and Budget yesterday declaring a pause on grant, loan, and other financial assistance programs is alarming and has serious implications for our community, businesses, and residents. We do not yet know the extent to which this pause will affect future and current funding for Cuyahoga County.
We have been in contact with our congressional leaders and federal partners to better understand the implications of this memorandum, and the County administration is reviewing all available information to determine what impact the pause will have on our work.
So much of what Cuyahoga County does is supplemented through federal funding including health and human services, public safety, infrastructure and transportation, and environmental initiatives that could all be in jeopardy due to this action. While there is still uncertainty about the full implications of this memorandum, we will not stop providing services or prioritizing the health, safety and well-being of our residents.
These funds are derived from our community’s tax dollars. We will continue to fight for them.
