CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH – Today marks an historic and significant moment for people across our nation and around the world. On behalf of Cuyahoga County, I congratulate His Holiness Pope Leo XIV on his election as the first ever U.S. citizen to serve as the head of the Roman Catholic Church.

This news is a source of pride and inspiration for millions of Americans, including the many Catholics and people of faith in our community. Pope Leo XIV's life of service and commitment to justice reflects the values that unite us across cultures, beliefs, and backgrounds. To have his first message to the world be one expressing his wish for peace to all people is a powerful testament to leadership that can transcend borders. His Holiness reminds us that compassion, humility, and the courage to seek common ground can bring hope in uncertain times.

May Pope Leo XIV's papacy be a beacon of unity and bring renewed hope to the faithful.
