Statement from Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne Regarding the Ohio Senate Budget Plan
CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH – The budget sub bill released today by the Ohio Senate prioritizes the interests of billionaires at the expense of the state’s most vulnerable residents – slashing funding for libraries, underfunding critical social programs, cutting access to Medicaid, and neglecting the needs of working families. At a time when the state budget should focus on fair, statewide investment, diverting $600 million of residents’ money to build a sports stadium in Brook Park is not a responsible path forward for Ohio or Cuyahoga County. This is not just robbing Peter to pay Paul, this is robbing Bob and Betty Buckeye to pay Jimmy and Dee Haslam.
I have a piece of advice for the residents of Ohio: visit unclaimedfunds.ohio.gov to get your money back before the state hands it over to the Haslams.
