Cuyahoga County Executive Nominates New Director of Housing

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH  Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne today announced the nomination of Anthony (Tony) W. Scott, Esq. as the new Director of Housing and Community Development. Scott’s appointment is pending confirmation by Cuyahoga County Council.

“Tony Scott has a strong track record of building partnerships, advancing housing policy, and delivering results for residents,” said Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne. “His deep knowledge of our neighborhoods and proven leadership in the City of Cleveland make him the right person to help us expand opportunity and improve housing outcomes countywide.”

 

Scott brings over a decade of experience in public service in the City of Cleveland, most recently serving as the Assistant Director of Community Development. Scott has also served as Commissioner of Park Maintenance and Properties, Assistant Director for Building and Housing, and General Manager of Administrative Operations for the Office of Professional Standards. He began his career with the City as an Assistant Director of Law in the Code Compliance section of the Law Department. 

 

Scott is a licensed attorney in the State of Ohio and the Northern District of Ohio and a decorated veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

Scott was born in Cleveland and raised in East Cleveland. He graduated from Shaw High School and attended Cleveland State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, a Master of Public Administration, and a Juris Doctorate. 

 

Scott is a proud member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and serves on numerous local non-profit boards, including the Midtown CDC Economic Development Committee, the Black Professional Association Charitable Foundation, and the Zeta Omega Foundation.

If confirmed, Scott will replace Sara Parks Jackson, who is retiring at the end of August after nearly 30 years at the County. “Sara has been a passionate leader and a fierce advocate for housing access across Cuyahoga County,” remarks Executive Ronayne. “Her work has touched thousands of lives, and we are deeply grateful for her decades of service and dedication. She leaves behind a strong foundation that Tony will be well-positioned to build on.”
