Cuyahoga County Council Approves ARPA Funding for Cleveland Restoration Society’s Heritage Home Program Focused in East Cleveland
CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH—Cuyahoga County Council approved legislation last night to provide $15,000 to enroll the City of East Cleveland in the Cleveland Restoration Society’s Heritage Home Program.
The Heritage Home Program is a general rehabilitation home improvement program that works to keep low- to moderate-income residents and vulnerable senior citizens in their aging homes. Council’s ARPA funding allows for the City of East Cleveland’s enrollment in the program for three years. This enables homeowners of properties aged 50 years or older to benefit from the program’s free and impartial technical assistance, home improvement and maintenance project consultation, and low-interest, fixed-rate financing for home renovation and rehabilitation projects.
The program is expected to support 75-90 households each year.
“When I was approached by the Cleveland Restoration Society and told of this great opportunity, I knew this would be of tremendous benefit to the residents of East Cleveland, given the recent data highlighting the community’s economic challenges,” said District 10 Councilman and Chair of the Community Development & Housing Committee Michael J. Houser, Sr. “I am grateful to my colleagues Council President Miller and Councilman Sweeney for their willingness to allocate ARPA funding for this effort. I encourage residents to take advantage of this opportunity to preserve and enhance their historic properties.”
Homeowners eligible to participate in the program will receive correspondence from Cleveland Restoration Society and City of East Cleveland making them aware of this opportunity. Residents interested in learning more about the program or determining their eligibility are encourage to visit heritagehomeprogram.org or contact their offices directly at 216-426-3116.
