Animal Shelter at Critical Capacity

Fosters and adopters urgently needed to ease overcrowding

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH — The Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter (CCAS) is offering $25 adoption fees through Tuesday, September 2 due to the recent high intake of dogs and critical capacity concerns. The shelter is in desperate need of adopters or fosters to make space.

In response to this need, the CCAS is hosting a Sign & Drive Foster to Adopt and Adoption Event now through Labor Day Weekend. We are seeking foster homes (even short-term), and adopters ready to meet dogs. Can’t adopt or foster right now? You can help the dogs by sharing news about this event on social media.

The regular adoption fee of $95 has been reduced to just $25 to incentivize adoptions.  Adoption fees include spay/neuter services, vaccines, a 2025 dog license, a microchip, and a current rabies tag.

“We have seen a high influx of dogs coming into the shelter in recent weeks, and we expect even more over a busy holiday weekend,” said Animal Shelter Administrator Mindy Naticchioni. “We need the community help by either adopting or fostering a shelter dog.”

The Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter is located at 9500 Sweet Valley Drive in Valley View. The shelter is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Available pets can always be viewed here.
