Every person in Cuyahoga County deserves the dignity of shelter from the cold
CUYAHOGA COUNTY — The Cuyahoga County Office of Homeless Services today announced funding for two seasonal shelter providers, Metanoia Project and the Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless (NEOCH), to ensure that individuals experiencing homelessness have a safe, warm place to go during the winter months.
“Every person in Cuyahoga County deserves the dignity of shelter from the cold," said Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne. "The seasonal shelter program is vital because it saves lives, strengthens our community, and ensures that our most vulnerable residents receive the care and compassion they need. We are committed to doing all that we can to support and protect them."
The Metanoia Project, in partnership with Mt. Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, will open its seasonal shelter on Sunday, November 23. The shelter is located at 11115 Kinsman Road in Cleveland and will operate from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m..
NEOCH's seasonal shelter will begin accepting clients in December at 1530 East 19th Street in Cleveland. Hours of operation will be from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
Both sites can accommodate up to 40 individuals nightly and will serve guests on a first-come, first-served basis. In addition to safe overnight accommodations, guests will have access to meals, warm clothing, and hygiene supplies, restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities.
Together, these two organizations will expand the County's capacity to serve residents in need while offering a place that treats people with dignity, kindness, and a sense of belonging.
“These partnerships reflect our commitment to providing safe spaces for our community during the coldest time of the year,” said LeVine Ross, Director of Cuyahoga County’s Office of Homeless Services. “We are proud to work alongside dedicated community partners like Metanoia and NEOCH as they provide life-saving shelter and care to those in distress.”
