Cuyahoga County to Host Free Paternity Establishment Information Sessions

Posted on

Cuyahoga County, OH - The Cuyahoga County Office of Child Support Services will host two Paternity Establishment Information Sessions to help parents establish legal parenthood and better understand their rights and responsibilities.

Led by the Child Support Services team, these information sessions will explain what paternity establishment is, why it’s important for every person in a family unit, and options available to establish paternity at no cost, like genetic testing. Each session is free and open to the public. Registration is highly encouraged.

Establishing paternity is the legal process that allows a biological father to be recognized as the legal father when the parents are not married. It provides important benefits for families: fathers gain legal rights and can be named on the child’s birth certificate, mothers gain legal clarity and shared responsibility, and children benefit from a stronger sense of identity, access to their full medical history, and eligibility for benefits such as Social Security and health insurance.
