The bond ratings affirm our responsible fiscal management

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH – Today, Cuyahoga County received an “AA” rating from S&P Global Ratings and an “Aa2” rating from Moody’s Ratings for its Capital Facilities Bonds to be used for the construction of a new jail and Sheriff headquarters. Both credit rating agencies affirmed their existing ratings on the County and placed a “stable” outlook on the credits. These ratings reflect the confidence that independent financial agencies have in our leadership, strategic planning, and long-term approach to managing public resources.

Both agencies credit Cuyahoga County’s proactive approach to budgeting and financial oversight, healthy reserves, and liquidity.

“Maintaining our long-term bond ratings is an important affirmation of the work we’ve done to keep Cuyahoga County on a strong financial footing,” said Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne. “We remain committed to being responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars while positioning the County for continued growth in the years ahead.”

Bond ratings serve as a key measure of a government’s financial health. Strong ratings can significantly reduce borrowing costs for capital projects, allowing the County to invest more effectively in public facilities, transportation systems, economic development, and other long-term priorities.
