The Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District wants all residents to know that their normal waste collection service may have changed due to the pandemic.

To protect the health and safety of their workers, many communities and their contractors have implemented changes to normal collection services. Some of these changes include the suspension of bulky waste collection, yard waste collection and special waste services such as collections of household hazardous waste.

The Solid Waste District wants all Cuyahoga County residents to observe the following recommendations:

• Contain all waste and recyclables within the appropriate container or cart. Do not leave any waste outside of containers.
• Hold any excess material for the following week if it does not fit in your container or cart.
• Hold all bulky and special wastes until your city resumes these services, if suspended.
• Check your city website for details or changes to your normal collection services.

“Waste collection is still important during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Diane Bickett, Director of the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District. “We appreciate residents’ flexibility and their efforts to keep Cuyahoga County clean and beautiful.”

Following these tips will help ease the burden on waste collection workers as they continue to provide this critical and essential service to the residents of Cuyahoga County during this difficult time.
