Small businesses have always been a ripe target for scammers, but the COVID-19 pandemic has magnified that threat.

Scammers are trying to exploit worries about COVID-19 and government assistance, as well as companies whose employees are juggling multiple jobs or working remotely.

The Cuyahoga County Department of Consumer Affairs and its Scam Squad partners are currently reporting impostor loan sites, sophisticated phishing activity, and scam orders resulting in losses.

Visit the COVID-19 scams page to learn more about:

  • Protecting your small business from common scams
  • Protecting yourself from work-at-home scams
  • Claiming stimulus funds and avoid scams
  • Avoiding COVID-19 scams

You can also report a scam through the Consumer Affairs website.
