Lunch, Community, and Finding ‘Common Ground’

by Christopher Harris , Communications Specialist
Do you have plans on Sunday, July 30th? If not, you do now.

The Cleveland Foundation, in collaboration with several community partners such as Cuyahoga County, is hosting FREE lunch discussions throughout Cuyahoga County. Before we dive into the lunch portion, let’s talk about the most important part – The conversation.

The conversation will focus on important topics that impact your community, such as making our community more resilient to the changes that may occur, and making Cuyahoga County a more equitable society and economy. The conversation is more than information gathering, it’s also an opportunity for information sharing. That's why Cuyahoga County is pleased to be hosting a set of table conversations centering around an issue central to many of us: workforce development.

“When we talk about workforce, too often one group is entirely forgotten: those with a criminal record who are looking to re-enter society”, said County Executive Budish.

The Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department (Corrections) will host 4 tables (8 seats per table) with a conversation focused around reentry issues and employment. One former and one current inmate will be present at each table to help lead the discussion.

Lunch will be provided by residents of Euclid Jail’s Comprehensive Reentry Services Program. The Comprehensive Reentry Services Program provides training, such as culinary skills, to residents so that they can pursue a career once they are released. The dinner-style menu will include:
  • Summer Side Salad (with an orange vinaigrette)
  • Grilled Chicken (with a cranberry glaze)
  • Trio-Meat-Loaf (with a light espagnole mushroom sauce)
  • Rice Pilaf
  • Spinach Asparagus Delight
  • Dinner Rolls
  • Watermelon Mojito Mocktail with mint
  • Fresh Fruit Tart Cake
  • Vegetarian entrée: Stuffed Acorn Squash

KenMillsThe discussion will be led by Cuyahoga County Director of Regional Corrections, Kenneth Mills, and other invited special guests.

If you’d like to get a seat at our table, you will need to register to secure your spot. You can register at: http://theclevelandfoundation.cmail19.com/t/ViewEmail/i/C0CE18CCA2CBACCA2540EF23F30FEDED
