Explorers Post 701 is our group of students (high school and college) participating in our Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Explorer Program. Under the supervision of off-duty Sheriff’s Department personnel, students attend weekly classes to learn about the following topics:
- First-Aid & CPR
- K-9 Handling
- Patrol & Traffic Techniques
- Special Weapons & Tactics Training
- Fingerprinting
- Court Procedures
- Investigations (Homicides, Sex Crimes, Domestic Violence, etc.)
The students in Explorers Post 701 often participate in various statewide competitions, such as the Heart of Ohio Law Enforcement Explorer Competition, held on April 21, 2018 in Medina, Ohio. Over 50 teams from several public safety agencies in Ohio competed in events tailored around: Crisis Intervention, Bomb Threats, Arrest and Search Active Shooter Response, and more!
Explorers Post 701 received 2nd place medals in two team events (Crisis Intervention, Obstacle Course), and a 3rd place medal in one individual event (Domestic Violence Response). Explorers Post 701 placed in the Top 10 in many other events.
So you want to be an Explorer?
