Employee Spotlight
The goal of the new Employee Spotlight series is to tell the stories of the impactful work of our offices through the words of our dedicated employees. Each month an employee will be highlighted in a video to be shared with county employees and posted for everyone to see.
We want to know about great employees at every level and position. This Employee Spotlight highlights June Gauss from the Public Works Bridge Design Department. June currently serves as a Bridge Design Engineer and has been with Cuyahoga County for 15 years.

This Employee Spotlight highlights Eugene Walton, Social Program Administrator for Jobs and Family Services. Eugene has been with Cuyahoga County for 17 years and currently manages the Workforce Opportunity Resource Center (WORC).
December Employee Spotlight on Detective Nick Riegelmayer and K-9 Jacks
The December Employee Spotlight highlighted Detective Nick Riegelmayer and K-9 Jacks from the Sheriff’s Department. Nick joined Cuyahoga County as a Deputy Sheriff in 1999 and became a K-9 Unit Officer in 2001. K-9 Jacks is a narcotics dog and has been with Cuyahoga County since 2009.
November Employee Spotlight on Ralph Lucarelli
The November Employee Spotlight highlighted Ralph Lucarelli from the Public Works Department. Ralph currently serves as the Electrical Forman and has been with Cuyahoga County for 19 years. In his spare time, Ralph enjoys high school sports and mini vacations with his wife.

This month’s edition of the Employee Spotlight highlights Deneen Kassouf with the Fiscal Department. Deneen has been employed with Cuyahoga County for 31 years and currently serves as an Administrative Assistant and Concierge.

The August Employee Spotlight highlighted Pamela Whatley with the Treasurer’s Office. Pamela has been employed with Cuyahoga County for over 16 years and currently serves as an Account Clerk.
July Employee Spotlight on Ruchi Asher
The July Employee Spotlight highlighted Ruchi Asher with the Law Department. Ruchi serves as the Assistant Law Director and has been in this position since she joined Cuyahoga County in 2013. In her spare time, Ruchi is active in the community serving as a mentor to youth.
June Employee Spotlight on Shanelle Smith
The June Employee Spotlight highlighted Shanelle Smith, Deputy Director for the Department of Sustainability. As Deputy Director, Shanelle is responsible for minimizing the county’s carbon footprint. The Department of Sustainability is a new Department, created by County Ordinance No. 02014-0023 in late 2014.

This month’s edition of the Employee Spotlight highlights Nichole English, from the Department of Public Works. English currently serves as a Chief Section Engineer for Planning and has been employed with Cuyahoga County for 6 years.

The April Employee Spotlight highlights Jeffrey Lampshire, from the Sheriff’s Department. Lampshire has been employed with Cuyahoga County for 6 years and currently serves as a Correction Officer for the Cuyahoga County Jail.
March Employee Spotlight on Dave Schaeffer, from the Fiscal Department’s Auto Title Division. Dave currently serves as the Auto Title Division Manager and has been employed with Cuyahoga County for 3 ½ years.
February Employee Spotlight on Larry Patterson - The February Employee Spotlight highlighted Larry Patterson, from the Department of Information Technology. Larry has been with Cuyahoga County for 18 years and is currently the Manager of Network Engineering, which oversees the desktop support team.
January Employee Spotlight on Mike Smotek - The January Employee Spotlight highlight’s Mike Smotek, from the Clerk of Courts Office. In 1992, Mike began his journey with the Clerk of Courts Office as a part-time entry level File Clerk, working his way up over time. In August of 2015, Mike was promoted to Manager of the Clerk of Court’s Finance Department.
December Employee Spotlight on Adreane Russell The December Employee Spotlight highlighted Adreane Russell, from the Department of Human Resources. Adreane has been employed with Cuyahoga County for 17 years and currently serves as the Payroll Administrator for Health and Human Services.
November Employee Spotlight on Mark Christie The November Employee Spotlight highlighted Mark Christie, from the Office of Emergency Management (OEM). Mark began his career with Cuyahoga County as a Planner for the Office of Emergency. In 2012, Mark was promoted to Chief Planner for OEM. As a professional planner, Mark lives by the quote “A plan is nothing, planning is everything.”
October Employee Spotlight on Donna Carter The October Employee Spotlight highlighted Donna Carter from the Fiscal’s Homestead Exemption Department. Donna has been employed with Cuyahoga County for 24 years. In her spare time, Donna enjoys spending time with her large family and traveling.
September Employee Spotlight on Darlene Palumbo-Hanna
The September Employee Spotlight highlighted Darlene Palumbo-Hanna from the Department of Consumer Affairs. Darlene has been employed with Cuyahoga County for more than 20 years and currently serves as a Senior Clerk.

The August Employee Spotlight highlighted Michelle Legat from the Division of Children & Family Services. Michelle Legat has been employed with Cuyahoga County for 15 years and currently serves as a Social Worker in the Ongoing Department.

The July Employee Spotlight highlighted Jonathan Wagner from the Animal Shelter. Jonathan Wagner has been employed with Cuyahoga County’s Animal Shelter for over 3 years and currently serves as a Deputy Dog Warden. In Jonathan’s spare time, he enjoys spending time with his two dogs, Dodger and Shelby.

The June Employee Spotlight highlighted Eric Lavins from the Medical Examiner’s Office. Eric Lavins has been employed with Cuyahoga County for 25 years and currently serves as the Laboratory Supervisor in Toxicology. In his spare time, Eric enjoys hiking, running, and spending time with his family; wife, and two children.
May Employee Spotlight on Laura Comiskey
The May Employee Spotlight highlighted Laura Comiskey from the Department of Job & Family Services, Office of Child Support. Laura Comiskey has been employed with Cuyahoga County for over 10 years. Currently, Laura serves in the Enforcement Division’s Financial Institution Data Management Unit. In her spare time, Laura enjoys zen doodling, as a form of relaxation.
April Employee Spotlight on Suzanne Britt
The April Employee Spotlight highlighted Suzanne Britt from the Department of Public Works. Suzanne Britt has been employed with Cuyahoga County’s Sewer Maintenance/Sanitary Engineers Division for over 25 years. Suzanne began her career with Cuyahoga County as a groundskeeper for the Middleburg Heights Wastewater Treatment Plant. In 2010, Suzanne became the Supervisor of the Lateral Services Department, which is the position she still holds today. Suzanne Britt is the first female Lateral Services Supervisor in the history of the department.
March Employee Spotlight was on Darlene Wade
The March Employee Spotlight highlighted Darlene Wade in the Division of Senior and Adult Services. March is National Social Work Month, and we are proud to recognize one of our own frontline workers. Darlene Wade has been employed with Cuyahoga County since 1998, when she was hired as a Social Service Worker III for the Division of Children & Family Services. As time went on, Darlene moved over to the Division of Senior and Adult Services as a Social Service Worker IV, and now to her current position as Social Service Supervisor, for the Options for Independent Living program. In her spare time, Darlene enjoys singing and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
February Employee Spotlight Harry Conrad
The February Employee Spotlight highlighted Harry Conard in the Department of Development. Harry Conard has been employed with Cuyahoga County since 1988, when he was hired as a Business Administrator III. Over time, Harry has moved his way up the ranks, from Business Administrator III, to Business Administrator IV, to his current position as Development Administrator – Compliance and Regulation. In his spare time, Harry enjoys traveling with his family; wife, Barbara, and three children, Craig, Scott and Christen.
January Employee Spotlight - Sheriff Frank Bova
Recently, Sheriff Bova was named the Cuyahoga County Police Chiefs Association 2014 Person of the Year, an award given to outstanding law enforcement officers and supporters for their specific acts, leadership or careers of accomplishment dedicated to serving the community. Sheriff Bova is a third generation police officer, with 30 years in law enforcement. In his spare time, Sheriff Bova enjoys coaching youth sports and officiating amateur basketball, including the Ohio High School Athletic Association's 2013 Final Four.
Sheriff Frank Bova Named Cuyahoga County Police Chiefs Association 2014 Person of the Year
