Cuyahoga County Councilman Michael J. Houser, Sr. Releases Statement Regarding Latest Census Bureau Data on East Cleveland
CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH—District 10 Councilman Michael J. Houser, Sr., released the following statement:
“The recent Census Bureau report, which shows East Cleveland as having the lowest median family income in the nation among cities with a population of 5,000 or more, highlights an urgent need for change.
"As District 10 Councilman and Chair of Community Development and Housing for Cuyahoga County, I am committed to creating opportunities and supporting programs that will uplift East Cleveland and its residents. Through close partnerships with other local leaders, community organizations, and residents themselves, we can spur economic development, create job opportunities, and improve access to quality education and services.
"The Circle East project, championed by the Cuyahoga County Land Bank, is a great first step in shifting this trajectory. Businesses within Circle East like Loiter Marketplace will vitalize the area and serve as critical hubs for building wealth and fostering entrepreneurship.
"East Cleveland is a place of rich history and resilience. I believe in the strength of its residents and am confident that, working together, we can rise above these challenges and work toward a stronger community.”
