CLEVELAND – Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald named Mark A. Parks, Jr. as the Acting Fiscal Officer for Cuyahoga County. A search firm is currently engaged in recruitment of the permanent Fiscal Officer for the county.
The Fiscal Officer is one of the new positions created by the Cuyahoga County charter and is responsible to “exercise all powers and perform all duties” that are under the authority of county auditors and county recorders, and some limited functions of the Clerk of Courts.
Parks is a Certified Public Accountant and currently serves as Financial System Administrator for the county. For the last 15 years, he has served in a variety of financial management roles in the public and non-profit sectors and holds a Bachelors degree in Business Administration and Political Science, and a Masters in Business Administration.
“Mark will help with the reorganization of the former fiscal departments of the county during this transition period. His experience in financial management as well as his participation with the Finance and Administration Transition Work Group makes him well aware of how to implement needed changes in these areas,” said County Executive FitzGerald.
