CLEVELAND - Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald issued the following statement after the Garfield Heights City Council voted unanimously to use County grant incentives to help save taxpayer funds by merging emergency operations with Bedford, Bedford Heights, and Maple Heights:

"I applaud the City of Garfield Heights for its action to use County grant incentives to help consolidate emergency dispatch services - a decision that will save city residents an estimated $160,000 annually. It is essential that Cuyahoga County residents always know their tax dollars are being used to provide quality government services as effectively as possible. I look forward to continuing to work with leaders across Cuyahoga County as my administration continues building on this important initiative and working on new, innovative proposals to cut waste and root out inefficiency in government."
