Focusing on Protection against Scams and Unfair Sales Tactics

North Olmsted, OH – Cuyahoga County Councilman Dave Greenspan will host a Town Hall Meeting on April 20th, at 7:00 pm at the North Olmsted Library featuring Cuyahoga County’s Department of Consumer Affairs Director Sheryl Harris. The Department of Consumer Affairs works to create a fair marketplace for consumers and businesses through its Consumer Protection and Weights and Measures divisions.

The Cuyahoga County Consumer Protection Division provides mediation for consumer complaints against businesses, issues alerts regarding unfair sales tactics and scams, and educates the public on consumer protection laws. The Weights and Measures Division inspects gas pumps; scales used in sales and timed devices throughout the County to ensure accuracy. The division also periodically conducts checks on sales prices or packaging.

This Town Hall Meeting will discuss ways to protect the consumer and businesses against scams that prey on individuals of all ages. “It’s important that we bring awareness to the services provided by Consumer Protection Agencies in order to keep our residents safe from deceptive and fraudulent activities,” states Councilman Greenspan.

All Cuyahoga County residents are encouraged to attend.
