Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish Responds to Center's Critical Funding Needs

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH
– Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish announced today that he is submitting an amended budget request to County Council to include $250,000 in funding for the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center.

The Rape Crisis Center, which serves over 64,000 individuals throughout Northeast Ohio at no cost to the clients, recently lost federal funding.

“The Rape Crisis Center does crucial work with survivors and their families. The loss of the federal funding was going to be catastrophic for the Center. In times of increased needs in our community, we cannot allow the support networks to weaken,” said Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish. “Therefore, I am amending my recommended budget request to Council and including these additional much-needed funds for the Rape Crisis Center.”

Sondra Miller, President and CEO, Cleveland Rape Crisis Center upon receiving the news said,

“On behalf of the thousands of survivors of rape and sexual abuse and their families we serve each year, we want to express our gratitude to County Executive Armond Budish. He stepped up, recognized our plight and acted. Every dollar the County has committed will go to direct services for survivors. Because of County Executive Budish’s commitment thousands will be helped in their efforts to recover.”
