CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH - Cuyahoga County has provided 22 municipalities with a combined $2.5 million in grants to support cities in paying for CARES eligible expenses that were not already covered through other federal funding sources.

Cities were able to submit a proposal requesting funds from the County. All municipalities who applied received funding.

The funds were given through the County’s Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act). County Executive Armond Budish sought and received approval from Cuyahoga County Council President Dan Brady to release the $2.5 million in funding as part of the County’s Emergency Purchase Request process.

“I am pleased to award these grant funds to so many municipalities,” said County Executive Armond Budish. “Many cities were hit hard by COVID-19 in a variety of ways, and I hope these funds can provide additional support and stability as we work together to combat this pandemic.”

Grants were able to assist with the purchasing of temperature-taking kiosks, ultraviolet air purifiers, technology upgrades to permit electronic meetings, as well as PPE and sanitation equipment to support the health and safety of residents and employees. “COVID-19 has presented the city of Seven Hills financial burdens that could not have been anticipated in the 2020 budgets,” said Seven Hills Mayor Anthony Biasiotta. “We are grateful to County Executive Budish and County Council for the continued partnership in granting these funds.”
