CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH - Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish issued the following statement:

“I am grateful for the support of our new Mental Health and Addiction Diversion Center in the state’s proposed capital bill. The $1 million allocated for the Center will provide much needed funds for what will be a significant and life-changing shift in the way that the mentally ill and those with substance abuse disorders are treated.

“Right now, our jail is the de facto place where many of these people end up. That doesn’t help them get on a path to recovery and return to our communities as healthy, productive people. The Diversion Center will provide a safe, healing place to stabilize people who are struggling, keeping them out of the criminal justice system. Many thanks to the statehouse leaders and especially the Cuyahoga County legislators who worked hard on this proposed capital bill during a busy time at the statehouse.”
