CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH – Cuyahoga County Council approved today the new Cuyahoga County Tuition Assistance Program, aimed at encouraging County employees to reach their goals, enhance their job-related skills, and develop their careers through experience and education.

Beginning in Fall Semester 2022, full time, benefits eligible County employees who have completed one continuous year of employment can participate in this voluntary program. Baldwin Wallace University, Cleveland State University, and Cuyahoga Community College are the current participating educational institutions, each selected through the County’s request for proposals (RFP) process.

County employees can be reimbursed up to $3,600 per calendar year for either undergraduate or graduate study. Classes and/or the overall degree need to be related to an employee’s current position or a probable future assignment.

“We in Cuyahoga County government are always looking for opportunities to support our employees, to improve recruitment and retention, and to enhance the economic well-being of our employees. This is especially true today, when businesses and governments everywhere are finding it hard to find and hire qualified employees,” said County Executive Armond Budish. “We know that programs like these can build a team of qualified staff and improve productivity. Most importantly, this program will engage our employees to improve themselves and reach their goals. This is a win-win for everyone. I look forward to seeing County employees take advantage of this opportunity.”

To seek reimbursement through the program, participants must achieve a grade of “C” or better for undergraduate programs, “B” or better for graduate programs, and a “pass” or “completed” for seminars. Reimbursement does not include the cost for books, fees, mileage, travel, or other non-tuition related costs.
