CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH – County Executive Chris Ronayne submitted to County Council today two nominations to the Cuyahoga Arts and Culture (CAC) Board of Trustees.

The Cuyahoga Arts & Culture Board supports a strong, vibrant and diverse art and culture sector through public funding and the fostering of a community invested in the value of its arts and cultural assets. The Board ensures reliable public funding and supports for the arts and cultural sector through awarding grants in Cuyahoga County.

Pending County Council approval, Executive Ronayne has nominated Daniel Blakemore and Dr. Michele Scott Taylor to serve three-year terms ending in March 2026.

Mr. Blakemore has two decades of experience working with and for arts and culture organizations. He currently serves as Philanthropy Director for the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and has held roles with Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens and Third Street Music School Settlement. He is a volunteer with the African American Archives Auxiliary at Western Reserve Historical Society and was previously President of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Northeast Ohio Chapter.

“Daniel has a clear understanding of the complexities that come with a vibrant arts and culture community,” said County Executive Chris Ronayne. “His background in environmental justice and philanthropic nonprofit work provides a unique perspective and reaffirms the importance of having access to meaningful arts and cultural experiences.”

Executive Ronayne has also nominated Dr. Michele Scott Taylor as a reappointment to the Cuyahoga Arts & Culture Board. Dr. Taylor has served on the board since 2020 and is the Chief Program Officer for College Now Greater Cleveland. While vice president of the CAC Board, Dr. Taylor helped triple the number of Black and brown-led and serving organizations who have received funding. Prior to serving on the CAC Board, she served on the board of nonprofit Progressive Arts Alliance.

“Dr. Taylor is committed to arts education and shaping funding policies that create change across our arts and culture ecosystem,” said Executive Ronayne. “Her leadership on the Board has helped prioritize the importance of equity and quality program design. I believe her reappointment will continue to serve our community well.”

Mr. Blakemore and Dr. Taylor’s nominations will be introduced at the March 14, 2023 County Council meeting.
