Executive Ronayne Announces Next Chief of Staff

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH – County Executive Chris Ronayne announced today that Erik Janas will serve as the County’s next Chief of Staff.

 

Mr. Janas currently serves as Deputy County Administrator for Franklin County. In this role, he is a part of a four-person senior administrative team responsible for managing operations, developing policies and programs, and allocating a $2 billion all-funds budget for agencies and the county’s total workforce of 6,500 employees. He directs government affairs for the Board of Commissioners and directly supervises the departments of Economic Development and Planning, Sanitary Engineering and Animal Care and Control, and has previously supervised Public Affairs, the Office on Aging, and Job and Family Services.

 

Prior to joining Franklin County, Mr. Janas was the Regional & Government Affairs Advisor for the Mayor of the City of Columbus. He has also served in the Departments of Development, Finance and the Mayor’s office for the City of Cleveland, and began his career in Health and Human Services in Cuyahoga County.

 

Mr. Janas has a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Dayton and a Master of Public Administration from the Levin School of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University. Erik has a certificate in Public Sector Leadership from Cornell University and is designated as a Credentialed Manager by the International City/County Management Association (ICMA).

I am proud to welcome Erik back home to Cuyahoga County to join my administration as we focus on some of our most critical issues including justice affairs, child wellness, affordable housing and economic development.”

 

Mr. Janas will begin with the County in mid-September.
