CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH – Mr. Alvarado currently serves as Executive Director of Slavic Village Development, where he oversees the community development corporation’s (CDC) housing development and renovation, commercial development, community organizing and stabilization services. In this role, Mr. Alvarado developed the Community Steward program, which provides residents with leadership, racial equity and trauma-informed care training to help leaders better represent their neighborhood’s culture and demographics.

Mr. Alvarado began his career in public service at the Cuyahoga County Planning Commission, where he served as Associate Senior Planner and developed comprehensive master plans for municipalities which helped leverage positive citizen action.

Mr. Alvarado sits on the Center for Community Solutions Board and is a coach for the CDC Leadership Progrsam with the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Foundation, where he provides professional guidance and coaching to emerging CDC leaders. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Notre Dame and his Master of Urban Planning, Design and Development from Cleveland State University’s Levin College of Urban Affairs.

“Chris has an extensive background leading community, regional, and sustainability planning efforts, and knows how to empower residents to be stewards in their communities,” said County Executive Chris Ronayne. “I know that he will have invaluable insight into how regional collaboration can help improve our efficiency, processes and overall public and economic development.”
