Updated Greenprint application makes searching for natural assets in Cuyahoga County fun and easy!

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH – Cuyahoga County’s robust Greenprint mapping tool has been updated to make it easier for citizens and professionals to search for natural assets in Cuyahoga County. The robust Greenprint application is a publicly accessible, digital mapping and data tool that displays the County’s natural land and water features in relation to cultural, civic, transportation, and demographic information. Users can view tree canopy locations, planned trails, vacant parcels, wetlands, and much more.

The Greenprint mapping tool introduces these new features:

  • Bike and Pedestrian crashes
  • Landfills and EPA Superfund and RCRA sites
  • Urban Heat Islands
  • State Water Trails
  • Socioeconomic Characteristics of Cuyahoga County’s population
  • Equity areas including Environmental Justice and Federal Justice 40 Disadvantaged Areas

“The Cuyahoga County Planning Commission recognizes the importance of mapping out natural assets when making local land use and infrastructure decisions as an important component of community planning,” said Mary Cierebiej, AICP, Executive Director of the Cuyahoga County Planning Commission. “By highlighting the county’s natural assets and making them available through one platform, we can help residents and visitors enjoy our natural spaces and empower developers to make decisions that sustain resources and better our region.”

Whether users are looking for opportunities to identify trail and bike connections, expand parks and greenspace, view the reach of area watersheds, obtain critical data for funding applications, or find schools and public buildings within a search area, the Greenprint application is easy to use for anyone who wants to learn more about Cuyahoga County’s natural environment, demographic and land use data.

The Cuyahoga County Planning Commission will offer virtual training sessions for using the updated Greenprint beginning in January 2024. Register for the virtual training sessions at countyplanning.us/greenprint.
