CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH –  The Cuyahoga County Department of Public Works, the City of Independence, and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) invite the public to provide comments regarding the replacement of Schaaf Road Bridge. The project will replace the existing Schaaf Road Bridge over West Creek in Independence and will include minor approach work.

The project will be completed within the limits of the existing right-of-way. The bridge will be closed during construction, and access to properties and adjacent streets will be maintained via detour routes. There may be some impact to utilities, including relocation of utility poles. Construction is currently scheduled to begin in Spring 2025 and will last approximately nine months. Environmental studies are underway. There will be tree clearing and minor impacts to the stream for placement of scour protection.

Questions and comments must be submitted by January 10, 2024, and may include the effect of the project on local residents, air quality, local economy, floodplains, and historic or cultural resources.
