Cuyahoga County Office of Reentry Offers Rental Assistance for Justice-Impacted Individuals

Posted on

Applications open now through March 21

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH – Support is available for formerly incarcerated individuals who need stable housing. The Cuyahoga County Office of Reentry is providing rental assistance to a limited number of people to help them secure and maintain housing. The opportunity is part of the County's Eight Point Plan for Housing Justice aimed at supporting successful reentry.

“We know that justice-impacted individuals have significantly lower chances of recidivism when housing needs are met,” said Simeon Best, Director of the Cuyahoga County Office of Reentry. “This opportunity provides more than a place to stay – it creates a path for individuals to rebuild their lives, find gainful employment, and raise their families.”

Applications will be accepted now through March 21. The rental assistance is open to previously incarcerated individuals who currently reside in Cuyahoga County and can demonstrate a need for housing assistance. Those interested must complete an online application, provide supporting documentation, and include details of their reentry journey.

The Office of Reentry will announce the recipients during Reentry Awareness Month in April. Funding will be distributed through the North Star neighborhood Reentry Resource Center.

For more information or assistance with the application, please contact the Office of Reentry at 216-698-3437 or Cuyahoga-reentry@jfs.ohio.gov.
