Cuyahoga County Council Approves $1 Million in Community Development Funding to Revitalize Housing in District 10 Communities
Cuyahoga Land Bank Will Renovate 30 Single-Family Homes to Enhance Neighborhood Stability
CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH—Cuyahoga County Council approved at Tuesday’s Council meeting $1 million in Community Development Funding for the Cuyahoga Land Bank to construct or renovate 30 single-family homes in District 10 communities, including the Circle East District in East Cleveland; the Cleveland neighborhoods of Glenville, Euclid Green and Collinwood; and the City of Cleveland Heights.
Roughly $900,000 of the funding will be used for appraisal gap financing on 20 single-family homes to be renovated or built by the Land Bank. The remaining $100,000 will be used for builder incentives on approximately 10 homes. Incentives may include sustainability upgrades, appraisal gap funding, or architectural upgrades.
“District 10 is facing the challenge of meeting the demand for affordable housing that currently exists in Cuyahoga County, while also revitalizing and enhancing run-down properties,” said District 10 Councilman Michael J. Houser, Chair of Council’s Community Development & Housing Committee. “This project gives District 10 the best of both worlds. By focusing on new construction, strategic redevelopment, and community partnerships, we are creating opportunities for homeownership, neighborhood stability, and economic mobility.”
Construction will begin in July 2025 with homes going on the market as early as late next year. This project will also serve as a blueprint for addressing housing market disparities across the entire County.
The Cuyahoga County Community Development Fund is funded by gross casino revenues distributed to the County.
“This is more than a construction project,” added Houser. “It’s an investment in families, neighborhoods, and the long-term economic health of Cuyahoga County.”
