Cuyahoga County Welcomes Back In-person Visitation for Corrections Center Residents
CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH – The Cuyahoga County Corrections Center has reinstated in-person visitation for residents of the facility, restoring options to connect face-to-face with family, friends, and loved ones. This marks the first time restrictions have been lifted since being enacted during the Covid-19 pandemic. By restoring in-person visits, the County is reinforcing its commitment to providing the best possible care and support for residents of the Corrections Center.
“Family connections are an important part of rehabilitation. By restoring in-person visitation, we ensure individuals in our custody can maintain meaningful relationships with family and loved ones. These connections foster a more supportive environment and strengthen the well-being of those in our care," said Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne. "Additionally, in-person visitation provides the dignity and respect every person deserves."
The Corrections Center will continue to offer video visitation, ensuring flexibility and access for those who are unable to visit in-person. The combined options are designed to maintain strong family and community ties, while promoting safety and security within the facility.
“In-person visitation is often a preferred option because it allows for more personal connection that video or phone calls don’t,” said Cuyahoga County Sheriff Harold A. Pretel. “In-person visitation helps to maintain stronger family and community bonds, reduces feelings of isolation for the resident, and provides additional emotional support. All of these things make our facility a safer, healthier place for residents and staff.”
There are now three ways to visit residents within the Corrections Center:
- On-site/In-person (Behind Glass) visits take place Monday - Friday from 8:30AM - 11:30AM, and 1:30PM - 4:30PM. There is no cost associated with in-person visits.
- On-site video visits take place Monday - Friday from 8:30AM - 11:30AM, and 1:30PM - 4:30PM. The visit at the Justice Center lasts 20 minutes and is free of charge.
- Remote video visits take place Monday - Friday from 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM, 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM, and 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM; and Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM. There is a cost of $4.00 for a 25-minute visit.
