Cuyahoga County Marks Ohio Loves Transit Week
Encourages use of public transit to strengthen our communities and economy.
Cuyahoga County, OH - In recognition of Ohio Loves Transit Week, Cuyahoga County, the City of Cleveland, and the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) recognize the essential role that public transportation plays in strengthening our communities, supporting our workforce, and bolstering our economy. By offering discounted travel passes for employees, the County and the City continue to support and encourage the use of public transit.
“As part of our commitment to supporting a connected workforce, Cuyahoga County is proud to continue to partner with GCRTA to offer reduced-cost transit passes for employees,” said County Executive Chris Ronayne. “Through this effort, we are strengthening the mobility of our workforce and supporting the wider use of public transportation.”
Reliable and affordable transit connects residents to jobs, education, healthcare, and essential services through safe, dependable mobility. By expanding access to opportunity, public transit enhances quality of life across our communities. It also supports employers across Northeast Ohio by helping attract and retain a diverse, resilient workforce, while playing a vital role in protecting our environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
“The City of Cleveland is committed to advancing accessible, affordable, and sustainable transportation options for all residents and employees,” said Cleveland Mayor Justin M. Bibb. “We are proud to continue our partnership with GCRTA through the ‘Commuter Advantage’ discounted transit pass program for City employees. In collaboration with GCRTA and Cuyahoga County, we are promoting sustainable transportation solutions while thoughtfully designing streets that serve everyone—pedestrians, cyclists, transit riders, and drivers alike."
As major employers in Northeast Ohio, Cuyahoga County and the City of Cleveland are proud to support employee access to transit by subsidizing the cost of monthly RTA passes. These programs reflect a shared commitment to equity, affordability, and sustainability.
“Public transportation is essential infrastructure that connects people to opportunity and employers to talent while strengthening the economic vitality of our region.” said India Birdsong Terry, General Manager and CEO of the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority. "Through strong collaboration with Cuyahoga County and the City of Cleveland, we are providing access to reliable, affordable mobility supporting workforce accessibility and helping build a more connected and competitive Northeast Ohio.”
