Flags at County facilities will remain at half-staff through March 7.

Cuyahoga County, OH - In honor of the life and legacy of Civil Rights leader Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr., Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff at all County buildings.

Jackson died last week at the age of 84. A tribute to Jackson will begin Thursday, February 26, where he will lie in repose at the Rainbow PUSH Coalition headquarters in Chicago. His body will then move to South Carolina and Washington, D.C. for formal services from March 1-4 before returning to Chicago for the People’s Celebration at House of Hope on March 6. A private homegoing service will be held on Saturday, March 7.

Reverend Jackson’s lifelong commitment to civil rights, economic justice, and equal opportunity leaves an enduring legacy across the nation and Cuyahoga County. His advocacy for voting rights, social equity, and opportunity inspired generations of leaders and residents.

“Reverend Jesse Jackson dedicated his life to expanding opportunity and advancing justice for all,” said Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne. “His voice challenged our nation to live up to its highest ideals, and his legacy continues to inspire those working toward fairness, dignity, and inclusion.”

Flags at County facilities will remain at half-staff through the conclusion of memorial services.
