Extreme heat paired with high humidity is in the forecast. Our “feels like” temperatures will be around 100, which makes it difficult for the body to maintain its normal temperature.

Take necessary precautions to ensure everyone’s health and well-being by seeking out these county resources.

Extreme Heat Tips

DO

  • Drink 2-4 glasses of water every hour
  • Stay indoors as much as possible
  • Limit exposure to the sun

The Office of Emergency Management has a helpful fact sheet.

Recognize the signs of heat related illness:

  • heavy sweating
  • weakness
  • dizziness
  • nausea
  • headache

If you or someone you know experiences these symptoms, move to a cooler place, drink water, and seek medical attention, if necessary. Call 9-1-1.

Sensitive Groups

Check on older adults, children, and pets.

The Division of Senior and Adult Services maintains a map of agencies and resources. Share this with anyone who might find it helpful.

If utilities are a concern, Cuyahoga County can connect residents with resources that can assist with summer energy bills.

For more community resources, call United Way 211.

Air Quality

Check today's Air Quality. Heat waves can lead to poor air quality, which is unhealthy for sensitive groups.

To help improve the air we breathe:

  • Limit unnecessary car trips
  • Avoid idling vehicles during high heat
  • Wait to mow
