Current Zone: 

  • Temporary fully actuated traffic signal installed at the intersection of Bell St. and North Main to take place of existing signals at that intersection for bridge work.
  • Phase 1 MOT in place. This includes closure of Bell St. from North Main to Pleasant Drive. One way traffic will be established over the west side of the bridge. River St. partially restricted to westbound traffic only.

     

    • PROGRESS:

  • The contractor is continuing on backfilling the north arch as well as continues for placement of concrete for the north retaining walls.
  • Work is being performed in preparing to pour back the sidewalks on the east side of the bridge.
  • Much of the work moving forward will be weather dependent.

December 3, 2024

  • Temporary fully actuated traffic signal installed at the intersection of Bell St. and North Main to take place of existing signals at that intersection for bridge work.
  • Phase 1 MOT in place. This includes closure of Bell St. from North Main to Pleasant Drive. One way traffic will be established over the west side of the bridge. River St. partially restricted to westbound traffic only.

     

    PROGRESS:

  • Contractor successfully placed the pre-cast arch sections in the north barrel on the bridge.
  • Since the pre-cat was set the contractor poured back the coping on the south retaining wall and are currently working on backfilling the north arch.
  • Work also continues for placement of concrete for the north retaining walls.
  • Work is going to continue with the rehabilitation of the north retaining walls.

November 5, 2024

  • Temporary fully actuated traffic signal installed at the intersection of Bell St. and North Main to take place of existing signals at that intersection for bridge work.
  • Phase 1 MOT in place. This includes closure of Bell St. from North Main to Pleasant Drive. One way traffic will be established over the west side of the bridge. River St. partially restricted to westbound traffic only.

     

    PROGRESS:

  • The contractor successfully poured the footers and pedestal wall in the north barrel of the bridge in anticipation of pre-cast and placement.
  • The second closure of the bridge occurred from October 22nd- October 23rd for placement arches within the north barrel.
  • Work is going to continue with the rehabilitation of the north retaining walls.

October 4, 2024

  • Temporary fully actuated traffic signal installed at the intersection of Bell St. and North Main to take place of existing signals at that intersection for bridge work.
  • Phase 1 MOT in place. This includes closure of Bell St. from North Main to Pleasant Drive. One way traffic will be established over the west side of the bridge. River St. partially restricted to westbound traffic only.

     

    PROGRESS:

  • The contractor successfully diverted the Chagrin River to the south barrel to begin work on the north barrel.
  • Contractor has removed concrete from Phase I of north retaining walls.
  • Great Lakes Construction also excavated and placed rebar reinforcement for footers and pedestal walls in the north barrel.
  • The second closure of the bridge is scheduled for October 22nd for placement of the precast arch within the north barrel.
   

 

September 3, 2024

  • Temporary fully actuated traffic signal installed at the intersection of Bell St. and North Main to take place of existing signals at that intersection for bridge work.
  • Phase 1 MOT in place. This includes closure of Bell St. from North Main to Pleasant Drive. One way traffic will be established over the west side of the bridge. River St. partially restricted to west Bound traffic only.

Progress:

  • The contractor is continuing to work on new corrective work necessary for the upstream southern retaining walls.
  • The backfill of the south barrel arch has been completed.
  • The contractor is planning to flip the river flow to the south barrel to begin work on the north barrel on 9/9/24.

August 1, 2024

  • Temporary fully actuated traffic signal installed at the intersection of Bell St. and North Main to take place of existing signals at that intersection for bridge work.
  • Phase 1 MOT in place. This includes closure of Bell St. from North Main to Pleasant Drive. One way traffic will be established over the west side of the bridge. River St. partially restricted to west Bound traffic only.

Progress:

  • The contractor closed bridge 7/10/24 through 7/15/24.
  • Closure was required for the safety of the traveling public with delivery and installation of the precast concrete arch.
  • Contractor installed the precast arch sections in the south barrel of the bridge which included headwalls for the upstream side.
  • The contractor is working on corrective work necessary for the upstream retaining walls.
  • Backfill of the arch is being scheduled.

  • Temporary fully actuated traffic signal installed at the intersection of Bell St. and North Main to take place of existing signals at that intersection for bridge work.
  • Phase 1 MOT in place. This includes closure of Bell St. from North Main to Pleasant Drive. One way traffic will be established over the west side of the bridge. River St. partially restricted to west bound traffic only.

Progress:

  • Contractor removed half of the bridge sidewalk over the south barrel on the east side of the bridge.
  • Contractor also poured concrete footers and pedestal walls for the south barrel in preparation for the precast arch sections.
  • Bridge closure is scheduled for 7/9/24 through 7/21/24.
  • Closure is required for the safety of public with delivery and installation of the precast concrete arch.

June 5, 2024

  • Phase 1 MOT in place. This includes closure of Bell St. from North Main to Pleasant Drive. One way traffic will be established over the west side of the bridge. River St. partially restricted to west Bound traffic only.

Progress:

  • The contractor continued digging for the footers for the foundation of the precast arch sections for the south barrel of North Main Street Bridge.
  • Digging was completed and reinforcement steel is continuing to be placed in anticipation for the footers and pedestals walls being poured.
  • Contractor completed pouring concrete back for the south retaining walls in Phase I operations.

May 1, 2024

Progress:

  • The contractor worked most of the month on the rehabilitation of the south retaining walls of the bridge.
  • Unsound concrete was removed from the retaining walls in Phase I of the project.
  • The concrete coping of the wall was also removed. Work began on digging for the footers for the foundation of the precast arch sections for the south barrel of North Main Street Bridge.

  • Phase 1 MOT in place. This includes closure of Bell St. from North Main to Pleasant Drive. One way traffic will be established over the west side of the bridge. River St. partially restricted to west Bound traffic only.

Progress:

  • The contractor worked most of March diverting the Chagrin River to begin work on the retaining walls on the south side of the project.
  • Currently rehabilitation of the retaining wall is being performed.
  • Saw cutting and chipping operations will start to remove unsound concrete.
  • The concrete coping of the wall is also scheduled to be removed.

March 1, 2024

Current Zone:

  • Temporary fully actuated traffic signal installed at the intersection of Bell St. and North Main to take place of existing signals at that intersection for bridge work.
  • Phase 1 MOT to be placed on 3/4/24. This includes closure of Bell St. from North Main to Pleasant Drive. One way traffic will be established over the west side of the bridge.
  • River St. partially restricted to west bound traffic only.

Progress:

  • Work will begin on 3/4/24 to establish the construction zone, place pedestrian fencing around the work site, and removal of the railing along the north and south side retaining walls. Once that is complete, work will begin to divert the Chagrin River so construction activities can commence.
