As of October 1, 2013, Cuyahoga Job and Family Services (CJFS) are required to ensure that the Able Bodied Adults without Dependents (ABAWD) population complies with the work requirement as a condition of receiving food assistance. This program consists of 3-6 months of unpaid work experience in the public or private sector which enables participants to “practice” work, gain valuable soft and hard skills as well as knowledge and training.
