Homeowners Advised to Be Wary of Marketing Gimmicks - Challenging Your Property Valuation is FREE
Cuyahoga County, OH - Cuyahoga County is receiving calls from homeowners about mass-marketing letters offering to help them contest their property valuation in exchange for a cut of the savings.
Homeowners can file property valuation complaints themselves for free. The deadline is March 31.
The Department of Consumer Affairs warns residents against rushing into contracts for services they can perform themselves for free.
The only information property owners need to file a property valuation complaint with the County Board of Revision is their email address, phone number, parcel number and opinion of value. They will have time after filing the complaint to pull together supporting documents.
To get instructions and forms, visit cuyahogacounty.gov/bor or call the Board of Revisions at 216-443-7195.
To report concerns about advertising materials of any kind, file a report with Consumer Affairs at cuyahogacounty.gov/consumeraffairs or by calling 216-443-7226.
