Unidentified Persons

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office and Regional Forensic Science Laboratory are committed to exhausting all efforts to identify every decedent that comes through our door. Our office strives to obtain positive identification through several methods, including:
  • Visual Identification
  • Fingerprints
  • DNA
  • X-rays
  • Dental Records
Unfortunately, for some cases, we are unable to obtain a positive identification through these methods. When all efforts have been exhausted, we look to the public to help identify the deceased.

The following are cases through the years where the Cuyahoga County Coroner’s Office/Medical Examiner’s Office was unable to identify the deceased person or locate next of kin.

Additionally, cases listed have been entered into NamUs – The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System. Links to NamUs have been provided for each case, which contain additional case information.

If you have any information or tips pertaining to any of the unidentified decedents on this website, please contact the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office at (216) 721-5610 and press option #1 to speak with an investigator.

If you need to report a missing person, please contact the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department (Missing Persons Unit) at (216) 348-4232 or submit a tip online.
