Cuyahoga County’s Department of Public Works collaborates with municipalities across the County to plan for, design and construct infrastructure projects, including those that expand and fill gaps in the multimodal network.

Anticipating Community Needs


Bridging Communities

As the Department of Public Works performs bridge maintenance, bridges are widened to add pedestrian paths to. Even if a project does not fill a current gap, this approach enables future multi-modal projects on the rehabilitated bridge.

At Mastick Road in the City of Fairview Park, this practice enabled a trail connection to the regional park system.

Preparing for an Electric Future

To prepare for the greater availability of electric vehicles, there two locations with public charging stations in Cuyahoga County facilities: Huntington Park Garage in Downtown Cleveland and Harvard Road Garage in Newburg Heights.

The Cuyahoga Greenway Plan is the County’s roadmap for a fully connected trail and bikeway system, and it’s actively shaping projects today. Spearheaded by the County Planning Commission, the Cuyahoga Greenway Partners collaborate closely with local communities bringing new connections to life.
