Corrections Division
Correction Officer
Oversees and supervises inmates within the Cuyahoga County Correction Center.
Starting hourly pay = $25.47
Minimum Qualifications:
- 21 years old
- High School diploma or GED
- No pending criminal cases or felony or serious misdemeanor convictions
Perks:
- Annual uniform allowance
- Longevity bonus after 5 years of service
- Great promotional potential (Corporal, Correction Officer Sergeant, Correction Officer Lieutenant, Associate Warden, Jail Administrator)
Sheriff’s Clerk (Criminal Records Division)
Assists with the booking and releasing process for inmates.
Starting hourly pay = $21.70
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- 1-year previous experience in clerical or reception work or equivalent training and experience
- NCIC and LEADS certifications
Law Enforcement Division
Deputy Sheriff – Competitive Test Entry
Starting hourly pay = $30.24
Minimum Qualifications:
- 21 years old
- High School diploma or GED
- Current and valid Peace Officer Certification
- No pending criminal cases or felony or serious misdemeanor convictions
Deputy Sheriff – Lateral Entry
Starting hourly pay = Up to $38.73
Perks:

Sheriff’s Clerk
Multiple units within the Law Enforcement Division.
Starting hourly pay = $21.27
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- 1-year previous experience in clerical or reception work or equivalent training and experience
- May require NCIC and LEADS certification, depending on assignment
Protective Services
Protective Services Officer
Provides security services for Cuyahoga County buildings.
Starting hourly pay = $18.59
Minimum Qualifications:
- 21 years old
- High School diploma or GED
- Must have or complete required OPOTA and Firearm courses and any testing that follows
Perks:
- Annual uniform allowance
- Longevity bonus after 5 years of service
- Great promotional potential (PSO Sergeant, PSO Lieutenant)
Security Monitor
Provides security services at the Cuyahoga County Justice Center and Lakeside Courthouse.
Starting hourly pay: $18.59
Minimum Qualifications:
- 21 years old
- High School diploma or GED
- Must have or complete required OPOTA and Firearm courses and any testing that follows
