General Jail Programming

AA
- Alcoholic Anonymous group are offered by community volunteers in the jail
GED Program
- ASPIRE Greater Cleveland, a program of the Cuyahoga County Library offers GED® classes to prepare individuals to earn a high school equivalence diploma.
Jail Liaison Program
- Funded by the Cuyahoga County ADAMHS Board, Jail Liaisons from the Centers, MetroHealth, Murtis Taylor, Recovery Resources and Signature Health work inside the jail to connect residents with mental health services once they return to the community. Liaisons work closely with the Common Pleas Court Staff to develop transition and reintegration plans for their clients.
Reentry Services
- Cuyahoga County’s Office of Reentry provides two employees in the Jail to assist residents transition back to the community by connecting individuals with needed social supports.
- Funded by the Office of Reentry, the Public Defenders Office has partnered with the Sheriff’s Office to provide indigent or homeless residents leaving the Cuyahoga County Jail a resource backpack. The bag contains items including, but not limited to: personal hygiene items, clothing, bus passes, seasonally appropriate items for warmth, shoes, and other items to help with a successful transition back into the community.
Religious Services
- Religious services are provided by Sheriff’s Department employed Chaplain daily. Priests through the Catholic Diocese work within the Jail to provide services several days each week. The Catholic Diocese is providing a nun who facilitates group meetings with the female inmates on Fridays.
Voter Registration & Voting
- Northeast Ohio Voter Advocates provide voter registration opportunities
- The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections facilitates absentee ballot distribution and collection during election seasons.
