- This project has been completed.
- A final walk-through inspection including remaining punch list items are scheduled for later this month.
September 3, 2024
- ADA Ramps: Installation of new ADA ramps and sidewalks at each of the four corners of the Mayfield/Green intersection.
- Punch List: The contractor will take care of any remaining tasks on the punch list, which include general clean-up and completing the project.
August 1, 2024
- SIGNALS: Final inspection and punch list work associated with the newly installed signals along Green Road at Mayfield, Neville, and Bayard.
- ADA Ramps: Installation of new ADA ramps and sidewalks at each of the four corners of the Mayfield/Green intersection.
- Punch List: The contractor will take care of any remaining tasks on the punch list, which include general clean-up and completing the project.
June 5, 2024
- SIGNALS: Contractor is currently waiting to take delivery of new controller cabinets for Mayfield, Neville, and Bayard.
- After installation/wiring of the cabinets has been completed a ten-day test will be initiated and the new systems will be placed into full operation.
- Demolition and removal of old/existing signals, poled, foundations, and cabinets.
- ADA RAMPS: Once new signals are operational, the contractor will construct new ADA ramps and walks at the Mayfield/Green Road intersection.
- PUNCH LIST: Contractor to address punch list items including general clean up and project close-out.
May 1, 2024
- SIGNALS: Pending delivery of new signal cabinets and controllers, contractor will continue work at Bayard, Neville, and Mayfield: Mounting, wiring, and label tagging cable connections within cabinets/pull boxes. Once completed, a ten-day test will be initiated, and then new systems will be placed into full operation followed by demolition and removal of old/existing signals, poles, foundations, and cabinets.
- ADA RAMPS: New construction will take place for new ADA ramps and walks at the Mayfield/Green Road intersection.
- BIKE LANES: Contractor will return to complete permanent striping items associated with the newly installed bike lanes situated along the west and east sides of South Green Road.
- PUNCH LIST: Contractor to address punch list items including general clean up and project close-out.
April 1, 2024
- Contractor continues installation of new signal items at the Green and Mayfield Road intersection: This work includes wiring of new signal cable and installation of new signal heads and video detection cameras.
- Daily (Temporary) one-lane closures will be enforced as necessary to facilitate the work.
- New signal cabinets & controllers are due to arrive later this month. Once the cabinets have been installed the new signal systems at Bayard, Neville, and Mayfield will then be tested for a period of 10 days prior to placing into permanent service.
March 1, 2024
- Construction and installation of the new South Green Road traffic signals at the intersections of Mayfield/Green, Neville/Green, and Bayard/Green will continue through the month of March.
- Note: Daily (temporary) one-lane closures will be enforced as necessary to facilitate the work.
- Pedestrians’ signs and rapid flashers were recently erected to establish a mid-block pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Green/Birchwold.
- Note: Flashers/signs are inactive/bagged awaiting additional striping and advanced warning signs to be installed.
January 30, 2024
- Construction and installation of new South Green Road traffic signals at Mayfield, Neville, and Bayard will continue through the months of January and February
December 6, 2023
- Construction and installation of new South Green Road traffic signals at Mayfield, Neville, and Bayard will continue through the month of December.
November 9, 2023
- South Green Road is now open to full-width traffic.
- Installation of new signals for Mayfield, Neville, and Bayard Roads will continue with new poles arriving in early December.
October 6, 2023
- All surface paving within the project limits of South Green Road was completed on – 9/18/23.
- Permanent epoxy and thermoplastic striping are currently being installed. This new striping will introduce a dedicated 10’ turn lane and (2) 5’ bike lanes along the east and west curb lanes.
- General clean up and seeding and mulching of disturbed areas will continue.
- Final inspection and punch list items will take place the week of October 9th.
- Installation of new signals for Mayfield, Neville, and Bayard will continue with a completion anticipated for late fall of 2023.
September 18, 2023
- Two-way traffic is being maintained on South Green Road from Mayfield Road to Cedar Road.
- Completed surface mainline paving along South Green Road.
Intersections: Acacia, Bayard, Renwood, Neville, Rushton, Greenwood, McKall, Birchwold, Goldway and Rainbow. - Permanent epoxy and thermoplastic striping will be installed. This new striping will introduce a dedicated 10’ turn lane (2) 5’ bike lanes along the east and west curb lanes.
- General clean up and seeding and mulching of disturbed areas will continue.
- Installation of new signals for Mayfield, Neville, and Bayard will continue with a completion anticipated for late fall of 2023.
August 22, 2023
Phase B: (Mayfield Road to Cedar Road) Green Road two-way traffic is currently being maintained on the newly rehabilitated southbound lanes as the two northbound lanes are now zoned for the following reconstruction.
- Continue one half width construction of decorative walks at the following intersections: Neville, Bayard, County Library/Notre Dame College Drive, and Birchwold.
- Construction of ADA new concrete ramps/walks is now in progress at the following side street intersections: Mackall, Birchwold, College, Bayard, Rainbow, and Ardendale.
- Electrical contractors continue placement of pull boxes, underground conduits, and foundations for the new controller cabinets at the following intersections: Mayfield, Neville, and Bayard.
- Placement of the final course(s) of asphalt is scheduled to begin mid-September.
- General clean up including and mulching of disturbed areas in progress.
July 18, 2023
Phase B: (Mayfield Road to Cedar Road) Green Road two-way traffic is currently being maintained on the newly rehabilitated southbound lanes as the two northbound lanes are now zoned for the following reconstruction.
- Completed: Full and partial depth repairs: Chip seal application and 1.75” of intermediate asphalt has been placed.
- Roadway castings: water valves, manholes, catch basins, etc. are being adjusted to grade using new iron castings.
- Continue one half width construction of decorative walks at the following intersections: Neville, Bayard County Library/Notre Dame College Drive, and Birchwold.
- Concrete curbs and drive aprons are being inspected and marked for rehabilitation/replacement.
- Electrical contractor continues trench/boring for, pull boxes, etc. in preparation of the new traffic signals at the following Green Road intersections: Mayfield, Neville, Bayard and County Library/Notre Dame Drive.
June 15, 2023
- Mayfield Road/Cedar Road Intersection:
- Work continues on the decorative stamped color crosswalks at the Mayfield and Green Road intersection.
- Note: Phased Mayfield Road Lane closures are likely to cause delays.
- Phase A: (Mayfield Road to Cedar Road)
- Beginning the week of 6/19/23, Green Road two-way traffic will be maintained on the newly rehabilitated southbound lanes as the two northbound lanes are now zoned for the following work:
- Milling of the top 3 inches of the existing asphalt pavement, planed surface will then be inspected and identified for partial and full depth repairs.
- Full depth (concrete) and partial depth (asphalt) repairs will be performed; followed by a single chip seal application and placement of 1.75” of intermediate asphalt.
- Construction will continue with various preparation work necessary for the installation of new traffic signals at the following Green Road Intersection: Mayfield, Neville, Bayard and County Library/Notre Dame.
May 18, 2023
- Phase A: (Mayfield to Cedar) Two-way traffic is being maintained on the existing pavement in the northbound lanes as the two southbound lanes are zoned for the following reconstruction work.
- Completed: Full and partial depth repairs; Chip seal application and 1.75” of intermediate asphalt has been placed.
- Roadway castings: water valves, manholes, catch basins, etc. are being adjusted to grade using new iron castings.
- Continue the construction of the new decorative stamped concrete walks and new full depth pavement along the four corners of the Mayfield and Green Road intersection.
- Note: Traffic delays on Mayfield Road are to be expected.
- Begin construction of decorative walks along the western halves of Neville, Bayard and County Library/Notre Dame College Drive.
- Concrete curbs and drive aprons are being inspected and marked for rehabilitation/replacement.
- The electrical contractor is now on site to begin underground trenching/boring for conduits, pull boxes, etc. in preparation of the new traffic signals at the following Green Road intersections: Mayfield, Neville, Bayard and County Library/Notre Dame.
April 18, 2023
- Phase A: (Mayfield to Cedar) Two-way traffic is being maintained on the existing pavement in the northbound lanes are zoned for reconstruction work. After milling the top 3 inches of the existing asphalt pavement, the planned surface is being inspected and identified for partial and full depth repairs.
- Contractor performing full depth pavement removal and rigid replacement at the north and south ends of the Green Road and Mayfield Road intersection. This work will also include the construction of the new decorative stamped concrete walks throughout all four corners of the intersection.
- In the coming weeks, once all base repairs have been made, the contractor will apply a chip seal followed by 1.75” of intermediate asphalt course.
- After establishing a leveling grade with the intermediate asphalt all roadway castings; manholes, catch basins, water valves, etc. will be adjusted to grade with new iron castings. During this time concrete curbs and drive aprons will be inspected and marked for rehabilitation/replacement.
March 17, 2023
- Contractor to complete final foundation drilling for proposed signal pole located on the SW corner of Bayard and Green Road. Excavation at this location has been delayed due to dominion pipeline conflicts.
- Weather permitting, the week of March 27th, contractor will begin making preparations for the enforcement of the phase one work zone on Green Road from Mayfield to Cedar Rd.
- Maintenance of traffic signs, barrels and temporary paint lines will be placed restricting two-way traffic to one lane of travel north and south using the eastern one half of the roadway.
- On or about Monday, April 3rd resurfacing work will begin on the western one half of the roadway.
- Traffic delays are to be expected during the entire course of construction.
February 8, 2023
- Contractor drilling for and placing concrete foundations (4 each) for future traffic signal poles at the following intersections.
- Mayfield and Green Rds.
- Neville and Green Rds.
- Bayard and Green Rds.
- Road resurfacing is scheduled to begin early 2023 weather permitting.
